Aditi Nerurkar, MD, MPH
Aditi Nerurkar, MD, MPH is a physician, public health expert and media/health communicator with an expertise in stress, resilience, burnout and mental health.
She currently serves as the Co-Director of the HMS Clerkship in Community Engagement with former HMS Dean of Students Dr. Nancy Oriol. This immersive clerkship offers students a rare opportunity to engage with community-embedded organizations in Alaska and Boston for a firsthand experience of the social determinants of health. Prior to this role, Dr. Nerurkar was the medical director of Harvard’s Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital integrative medicine program, where she developed a clinical practice in stress management using evidence-based approaches. In the past, Dr. Nerurkar has also worked in global public health in Geneva, Switzerland with a WHO collaborating center on refugee health. Her research has been published in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
In addition to her clinical work, academic teaching and research, Dr. Nerurkar is actively involved in media and health communication. She was named “100 Women to Know in America” for her work on stress, burnout and mental health. Her bestselling book “The 5 Resets: Rewire Your Brain and Body for Less Stress and More Resilience” was voted a must-read book by Adam Grant and Malcolm Gladwell's Next Big Idea Club and is available in 35 countries and 15 languages. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, NPR Morning Edition, Time Magazine, The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Times of London, and the popular podcasts Diary of a CEO and The Mel Robbins Podcast. Dr. Nerurkar is a frequent on-air medical commentator for mental health and public health with MSNBC and NBC News. She has also developed a digital series with CNN on rewiring the brain for less stress and several audio programs with the Calm app.
Dr. Nerurkar is an internationally-recognized speaker with talks at the Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit, Harvard Business School, Dell Technologies, Visa and other events. Her talks are centered on stress, burnout, resilience and mental health in the new normal.
